This is one of the most commonly planted ornamental eucalypts (or bloodwoods) due to its compact habit and prolific flowering. With Corymbias all flowers are borne at the ends of branches on new growth and C.ficifolia has bright orange to scarlet flowers so this one is absolutely 'drop-dead' spectacular. They bloom around Christmas time and are a great beacon of the holiday season. The elegant lanceolate foliage is 8-15cms in length, emerges as coppery/bronze then changes to be dark green on top and paler underneath so it will remain an attractive garden specimen all year round
